Safe Workplace Promotion Services Ontario
Advisory Committee
Call for Applications
The Ontario prevention system recently restructured its programs and services to better assist Ontario businesses in reducing the number of injuries, illnesses, and fatalities in their workplaces. As a result of these changes, 12 of the province’s health and safety associations have amalgamated to form four new organizations, effective January 1, 2010. One of these organizations is Safe Workplace Promotion Services Ontario (SWPSO), which includes Farm Safety Association (FSA), Industrial Accident Prevention Association (IAPA), and Ontario Service Safety Alliance (OSSA).
The SWPSO Advisory Group is searching for candidates with senior executive or leadership experience from Ontario’s industrial, service, and farming sectors who have vision, leadership, and commitment. This is an opportunity to provide leadership in the health and safety field within the business community and influence the operational direction of SWPSO. This is also an opportunity for your company to be recognized as a healthy workplace leader.
To serve as a forum for providing sector-specific expertise to assist SWPSO in the achievement of its mission, the new organization shall have a minimum of three Advisory Committees, one for each of the amalgamating organizations: FSA, IAPA, and OSSA. These Committees shall be advisory only and shall have no administrative authority.
The advisory group is currently seeking volunteer committee members who have demonstrated leadership in health and safety at an operational level, who are committed to the improvement of the health and safety of workers, and who are able to provide advice and guidance from many perspectives.

- Identify existing and emerging occupational health and safety issues and trends to support the strategic development of new initiatives.
- Provide a forum for the exchange of health and safety information between SWPSO, members of the Advisory Committee, and selected guests.
- Act as advocates of SWPSO by supporting and promoting the activities and initiatives of SWPSO, and participating in Association events and programs, as appropriate.
