IAPA's Volunteer Network
Preventing workplace injuries is a community effort and IAPA could not achieve its goals without
civic involvement. With hundreds of volunteers representing over 600 firms, we rely on the
invaluable expertise and experience these professionals provide. Through their activities, volunteers
play an integral role in helping to reduce and eliminate workplace injuries and illness.
IAPA volunteers are involved in various aspects of the organization, depending on their interests,
time and skills. They assume leadership roles to help determine and govern IAPA operations.
They may also provide direction and expertise on products and services and/or plan strategies
and programs to improve the health and safety of their industries and communities.
Dedicated senior volunteers donate their time upon retirement, contributing knowledge and
experience to IAPA and the health and safety community. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Networking members who meet quarterly with fellow health
and safety professionals to stimulate learning in an open
exchange of solutions-based discussions and presentations.
- Project and program volunteers work together to assist
in planning, developing and evaluating regional educational
programs for our member firms. These activities include
delivering community programs, conference management, piloting
new products and projects and representing IAPA in community
partnerships.
- Youth initiatives volunteers facilitate our Young Worker
Awareness Programs in high schools, reaching over 30,000
students. They also support LINK, a dynamic multi-media
production competition for high school drama students across
the province.
- Leadership/governance volunteers ensure appropriate direction
of the organization as elected leaders in their Division
and/or Industry Sectors, at the Council of Representatives,
or at the senior Board of Directors level.
Volunteering with IAPA is a rich and rewarding experience
both in personal and professional development and in helping
to promote workplace health and safety. Find out today how
you can make a difference by becoming
an IAPA volunteer in your community.
