Investigating Incidents: A Practical Workshop

Occupational Health and Safety Act. Investigate a mock accident scene with an IAPA
Consultant and be guided through the steps of an accident investigation from beginning to end. Through this experience you will learn the multiple tasks required by your team to investigate the scene properly in order to prepare your report findings. Gain the knowledge necessary to confidently investigate incidents in your workplace.

Psychosocial Hazards: What Are They? How Do We Assess Them?
Establishing the hazard/risk inventory is a critical component under occupational health and safety management system requirements such as CSA Z1000 and OHSAS 18001. OHS practitioners have developed considerable comfort and skill when conducting risk assessments for physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and mechanical hazards. But what about mental hazards? Organizational culture, policy and programs need to be assessed for potential mental injury or harm in a similar way to the approach applied to potential physical injury. Practical tools and techniques to support the assessment process will be discussed.

Generation Y and How They Will Change Our Workplaces Generation Y’s, also known as Millennials – born between 1980 and 1995 and 80 million strong – are entering the workplace with starkly different attitudes and expectations than other generations. So beware all bosses! A new breed of worker is about to attack everything you hold sacred including health and safety. In fact, Generation Y and workplace safety may be a total mismatch. Generation Y’s may tend to disregard work safety completely especially if they are told by someone who is older than them. Come prepared to learn: how Generation Y is different than other generations; their attitudes; how to recruit, engage, retain and communicate successfully with this next generation of young workers.

Not only can an effective JHSC influence the bottom line, it can play an integral role towards moving your organization beyond compliance. Improving JHSC performance can also offer your company benefits not traditionally associated with committees. Learn how to take a business approach towards helping your company move beyond health and safety compliance.
